P90x2 Review (updated)

I am very proud that I can say I just completed P90x2. At first I was a little surprised by the different moves in P90X2 because I was expecting P90X again.  However once I realized how hard I was working and the results I was getting I was pumped!

P90x2 is a new beast compared to any of the other Beachbody workouts I have done such as P90x, Insanity, or Asylum.  It is broken down into 3 phases: Foundation, Strength, and Performance.  P90x2 Foundation & Strength were unique, and they focused on weak areas that I didn’t even know I had.  P90x2 has more balance exercises compared to any other Beachbody workout program. For example, you use a Stability Ball and Medicine balls to improve your balance and core strength.  I agree with P90x/P90x2 creator Tony Horton when he said in the videos, if you are really sweaty and think you might slip on the Stability Ball put a towel on the ball! I have slipped quite a few times and if I wasn’t on a carpeted surface, it would have been bad news!

The last phase, Performance, reminds me of the Insanity: Asylum workouts because of the quick and repetitive moves that make you give 110% of yourself.  Two of the workouts are PAP Upper and PAP Lower.  For example, imagine doing a Plyometric (jump training) exercise and alternating with pull-ups in the same workout! Crazy but awesome!

If you have done P90X already, don’t expect to do a more intense version of the same program.  Expect to try fresh, new, and difficult moves that you’ve probably never done before! Expect to be challenged!  This is a great workout program that is designed for beginners and advanced athletes with room for both types to grow.  It’s designed so you can travel with it, use it at a gym or use it at your home.  It’s very versatile.  I cannot wait to do P90X2 again.
