Star Wars: The Old Republic
10 months ago, I successfully quit World of Warcraft. So when I decided to try Star Wars: The Old Republic I expressed extreme caution like the first day of P90x. The intro movie is action packed, and it gets you pumped to play as one of your favorite characters from “a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away…”. After I chose a Sith Inquisitor, I started trotting around in the most fun starting area of an MMO I have ever played. Bioware is clever because they had me hit the ground running and they made my character feel important even at level 1 regardless of lacking a light saber. They disguise the classic “killing of rats” and “picking up berries” quests with more important themes from the Star Wars universe.
The voice acting is alright except for my character who has the most obnoxious emo voice and I can’t stand listening to him speak. After level 5-6, things slowed down a bit but that’s okay because I was blinded by the need to have ultimate power! The story line is quite interesting since I am competing with another Sith to become an apprentice.
The options for dialogue choices are similar to the Mass Effect options.
Sometimes I was surprised due to the choices I selected not matching up to what my character said. I have to be careful because if I choose the wrong option, I could be given light side points. Yeaaaaaah… that’s correct— in SWTOR, a Sith can get light side points. LAME!
